3 How-To’s To Master Hair Coloring

Hair coloring is a tricky business; each client that walks in your salon comes up with a new request and you have to be the jack of all trades to fulfill the wish. Here, 3 simple, quick, and effective how-to’s, straight from our hair experts to help you master hair coloring techniques.

Tackle Mohawk Section

Calling those who don’t go along well with around the crown highlights; here’s a tip from Kisten O’Donnell (@kristen_o_beauty) to tackle the mohawk section like a pro: “Begin with 2-3 babylights in the crown to avoid any harsh lines. This is where the hair tends to naturally separate. Next - switch to thin slices, and do this through the entire mohawk section.”

She elaborates on how lightening the thin pieces provide the perfect canvas to create a subtle melt: “I love the blended look that thin slices give.” Have a detailed look at how Kristen skillfully accentuates the mohawk section with Juvexin Lightening Powder+. “This lightener contains Juvexin & Pectin which offers high lift while nourishing the hair & protecting it from damage + provides up to 9 levels of lift.”

Connected Dimensional Hairline

Ever been in a situation where, after a brilliant highlight job, the hairline still doesn’t look as connected as it should? Our hair artist, Ashley Marie (@paintesbyashleymarie) shares a quick, easy to mimic placement to “keep your hairline connected and dimensional all at the same time”.

  • Starting off at the temple area, go with two back-to-back weaves.
  • Continuing with the weaving technique, pick the two outer pieces above the ear in a horizontal parting to connect it to the front hairline. This will make sure there are no dark pieces left in between the foils.
  • The last piece of the puzzle; create a triangular dimensional pocket to connect the front hairline to the back.

The Perfect Gloss

None can challenge the craft of Melissa Maloney, the balayage expert, when it comes to giving the hair a perfect gloss. For this, she recommends using GK Hair Juvexin Cream Color since it is “a little more opaque than a traditional gloss which is amazing for these rich caramel tones.

” Since Juvexin Cream Color has a rich amount of Juvexin keratin and Pectin, it adds nourishment to the hair without exposing it to color damage.
